Summer Goal Update

002. Work in a bakery.

For the last two months I have been working at Luxe Sweets, where I am one of only four employees. If there's anything I've learned here, it's that baking sweet treats all day is the ideal job.

006. Exchange more snail mail.

This goal is still in the works, but I have sent and received many little treasures thus far!

008. Buy more Bruce Springsteen records.

Sadly, I have not bought any more of the Boss' records in quite a while. However, Steph is giving me a copy of 'The River', which belonged to her dad. She is a good friend. Here is what I have so far:

Greetings From Asbury Park on Compact Disk & Vinyl

Born in the U.S.A on vinyl (x2)

Darkness on the Edge of Town in mp3 format

 Nebraska on vinyl

010. Found a branch of Activity Club in Austin.

Well, Activity Club certainly has a presence. A lot of people seem very excited about it, which makes me feel good. It looks like the majority of my summer is already very booked up, but I hope that we'll be able to organize at least a few Activity Club craft nights/social events. (Cupcake Social, anyone?)

012. Read six books.

I have read 'Mother Night' by Kurt Vonnegut. Currently reading 'Breath, Eyes, Memory' by Edwidge Danticat.

013. Watch every Woody Allen film.

Making progress! So far, we have seen: Sweet & Lowdown, What's Up Tiger Lily?, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah and Her Sisters, Husbands and Wives, Mighty Aphrodite, Everyone Says I Love You, Hollywood Ending, Melinda and Melinda, Match Point, and Scoop.

015. Visit Anacortes.

In spite of the amazing time we had and the delightful people that we met last year, B & I decided not to visit Anacortes this summer. He bought a new car & I'm saving for a commuter bike so we decided not to spend too much money vacationing this summer.

017. Fly the sea horse kite.

Shortly after this list was made, the sea horse kite was successfully found and flown.

weekend

In spite of the hot weather, we managed to have a great time in San Antonio this past weekend. B & I ate way too much, had too many free drinks, and went night swimming on the roof top of the hotel. Now we are looking forward to our trip to Marfa over the summer, which is going to be so, so much fun. Last night when I got home from work, B had gotten out the rice cooker and steamer and made me rice with broccoli and asparagus. yumm! Tonight we are planning on watching I'm Not There, baking some cookies and going to bed early.

I think this week I may start ordering fabrics for my quilt. And if I can't figure out this tension problem on my sewing machine, then I will probably be taking a trip to the Singer center, which I hope won't cost too much. I have also developed a new-ish (guilty) obsession: wedding blogs. Breakfast time!

cupcakes:

Life is busybusy right now. We've been making lots of progress with Activity Club and I'm excited to see what great reception it's gotten. We've even gotten some messages from bands asking to play any parties/craft nights that we organize. Aside from that, I have woken up at 6 a.m. the last two mornings to be at Luxe. I'll be working at Anthropologie today, and then after that we're having dinner with B's parents. They're going to be in town for the next few nights and then we're all going to San Antonio on Saturday. It's been a little while since we've seen them so I'm pretty excited. We're going to surprise them with these cupcakes, which I made this morning:

I'm going to get ready, happy hump day!

Fabric

As of tomorrow, I will officially be paying for this thing. And although this blog is mostly for my own personal benefit, it'd be nice to know if anyone is reading. My interview with the bakery today went really well. It's located in a small rented kitchen space on the east side, and conveniently close to my house. We're making arrangements for Thursday to see if it feels like a good fit. It seems like the job comes along with a lot of responsibility, but without all of the stress and drama I deal with at my current job. But I shouldn't get ahead of myself, even if I do get an offer, there are still a lot of factors to consider. Over the next couple of days I need to finish writing my last paper and putting together my drawing portfolio. The end of the semester is getting nearer! In the midst of all the chaos, today I took a tiny break to make a fabric wishlist:

Summer time

I am sitting in my favorite bakery with a stomach full of cupcake. Yumm!! This week will be my final week of the semester and I cannot possibly communicate how relieved that makes me feel. The beginning of summer marks weekly craft nights with Steph, water color paintings, and yellow bikes.
